Christopher Matibe has lived a life of suffering and pain because of the painful lumps.

Pimple turns really nasty

News  Date: 19 August 2005

MUFULWI – What has started as a small pimple on the left ear has turned Christopher Matibe’s life into a living hell. The 30-year-old unemployed Christopher has now developed big lumps in his ears and the pain is so terrible that he has never known peaceful sleep since 1991.

He has twice gone for operations and tried several traditional healers but the lumps emerge again. He says is now tired of brooding in silence and his only hope is the assistance from generous Mirror readers.

“I have seen many community members getting assistance through Mirror and I believe this is my turn as I have suffered for a long time in silence,” says Christopher, who stays at Mufulwi village, near Matavhela in the Mutale Municipality area.

He explains his life of misery: “There are times that I think death will be the only solution because of the great pain. I no longer enjoy life because I am now a prisoner of these lumps that are almost killing me. The pain never stops and this makes me to consider life as worthless. The lumps have also developed in my chest and they are very painful. But I will never give up the fight because I believe there are people who can assist me out there.”

Christopher says he cannot find employment because of the lumps. “No one is prepared to give me a job because of the sickness. Even if I get a job, it will be difficult for me to cope because of the pain in my ears. I need any type of assistance from the community to get rid of these lumps because they are ruining my life.”

He says he is disappointed by the people who look at him with scorn. “I even don’t want to take a stroll because people never stop looking at me. Some even laugh at me, but there is nothing I can do because I need to continue with life…”

Christopher said the pain grows stronger when it is hot.

“I am in jail because of these lumps. I have tried all the powerful pain killers but nothing has ever happened. I will accept any assistance, whether religious, traditional, western or spiritual.”

Those who would like to assist Christopher can call 072 351 0164 or alternatively visit him at Mufulwi village, on the western side of Mufuwi Restaurant.
