Decomposed body of mentally ill man found

HA MAGAU – The decomposed body of a 39-year-old resident of Magau Village was discovered by his younger brother at Magau last Friday.

According to the police statement, the deceased, Butana Lekhunyana (39), who was mentally ill, was staying with his mother, who works as a domestic worker at Makhado and only comes back over the weekends.

The discovery was made by the deceased’s younger brother who had gone to visit him at his homestead after realising that he had not seen his brother for four days. Upon his arrival at around 21:00pm, he noticed that the doors and windows of the house were closed and locked. His suspicion grew over his brother’s safety and he broke one of the windows to his brother’s bedroom. He peeped through the window and noticed the decomposed body of his brother lying on the bed.

The police are investigating the incident.

*In a separate incident, Tshilwavhusiku police have opened a murder and inquest case following the discovery of two bodies, those of a 43-year-old male and his lover, aged 36, at Madombidzha on Sunday. According to the police, the names of the couple are Maria Muremela from Gogobole Village and Naledzani Samson Mauda.

The gruesome scene was discovered a friend, who had gone to pay a visit to the couple’s house. Upon his arrival, he discovered the body of Ms Muremela in a pool of blood, with multiple chop wounds to the head, lying next to the bed. The body of Mauda was hanging from the rafters of the roof.

According to the police, it is alleged the male victim chopped his lover with a panga on the right side of the head and above the right ear and later hanged himself. The police said that, according to the neighbours, the two had a stormy relationship.
