Hunt on for "ghost" employees

POLOKWANE – Civil servants in Limpopo will receive their salaries by cheque this month, in a further effort by the government to root out “ghost” employees.

According to a statement by the Office of the Premier, the drive is part of the government’s effort to reduce costs and cut the budget deficit. Due to the changes, civil servants expecting their salaries on September 15, will receive them on September 12, those who expect their salaries on September 22 will receive them on September 19 and those who expect their salaries on September 30, will receive them on September 27.

Pay points in the Vhembe district are the Donald Fraser Hospital, Elim Hospital, Makhado Show Ground, Malamulele-Shingwedzi EMPC, Eric Louw Secondary School in Musing, Siloam Hospital, Thohoyandou Town Hall, Tshilamba Education Circuit Office and the Tshilidzini Hospital.

Civil servants in the Mopani district will receive their salaries at the Kgapane Hospital, Tzaneen Primary School, Letaba Hospital, Maphutha Malatji Hospital, Nkhensani Hospital, Phalaborwa Activity Hall and the Sekororo Hospital.

According to the statement, transport to the pay points will be made available if and when it is necessary.
