Rambadu will not be disciplined

News  Date: 23 April 2004

MAKHADO – The regional branch of the ANC in the Vhembe region announced that no drastic steps will be taken against the Municipal Manager of Makhado, Mr Mugivhela Rambado, who smacked an usher during the preparations for President Thabo Mbeki's visit at the Rabali Stadium a fortnight ago.

The regional secretary of the organisation, Mr Tshifhiwa Dali, declined to elaborate on the matter, his reason being that justice had taken its course against the municipal manager at the court level. In addition, a member within the organisation in the region, who pleaded not to be named, told Mirror that Rambado had saved himself by paying the admission-of-guilt fine as the organisation was going to punish him for bringing the reputation of the ANC into disrepute.

The current PRO of the Makhado Municipality, Mr Ntsieni Magwala, confirmed that the municipality is not going to take drastic steps against the municipal manager for this reason: "As the municipality, we understand that, since the function was not our initiative, but the ANC's, we see no reason to call the municipal manager to a disciplinary hearing".
