Makhado Municipality launched the STI campaign last week Thursday at Muthuhadini Combined School in Elim.
Makhado Municipality Mayor Cllr David Mutavhatsindi says Makhado cares about learners who are leaders of tomorrow. He urged learners to refrain from engaging in sexual intercourse. "We want you to focus on your studies," he said.
The school principal of Muthuhadini Combined School Daniel Leshaba has acknowledged the commitment and dedication done by the Makhado Municipality. “We feel very honoured as a school to host event like this. This campaign will play a vital role in our pupils health and future,” said the principal. We hope that it won't be for this year only.
The principal of Ozias Davhana secondary school Morris Chauke also praised the work from the municipality. “I believe this campaign will eradicate the ills that emante from the sexual intercourse. Our pupils will be safe and be able to produce good future leaders,” he said.
Learners from the 3 high schools in the area Muthuhadini Combine School, Odzias Davhana and Elim High attended the campaign.
Circuit Manager Mr Falaza Baloyi also attended the event. Baloyi appreciated the good work which the Municipality is doing not only in terms of service delivery but also through education. He added that the department value the Mayor's support. He further encouraged the learners to study very hard.
The 22-year-old Mbulaheni (Gary) Ridovhona has been passionate about journalism to the extent that he would buy himself a copy of weekly Univen students' newsletter, Our Voice. After reading, he would write stories about his rural village, Mamvuka, and submit them to the very newsletter for publication. His deep-rooted love for words and writing saw him register for a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies at the University of Venda, and joined the Limpopo Mirror team in February 2016 as a journalism intern.
