A delegation from the Kingdom of Swaziland’s Parliament is visiting the Limpopo Province from 25 to 29 September 2005. The 41-strong delegation will be hosted by the Limpopo Legislature and the Provincial government.
The delegation is being led by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Charles Magongo, and the Chairman of the CPA Swaziland Branch, Marwick Khumalo. The total delegation is comprised of 34 members of parliament and six members of the Senate.
“Whilst visiting our province, they will greatly assist in the launching of the local branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)”, says Limpopo Legislature Speaker, Dr Tshenuwani Farisani. Farisani says the Swazi parliament has experience, and their expertise in the Commonwealth will be an added asset for Limpopo. The Limpopo chapter of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will be launched on 28 September at Marco Hall in Polokwane. On the same day, there will be a soccer game between Swaziland MPs and Limpopo MPs.
Earlier this year, a Limpopo delegation, led by Farisani, visited Swaziland on a fact-finding mission. It was during this visit that King Mswati III, the Swazi monarch, promised that a delegation from his Kingdom would visit Limpopo as soon as possible.
During their visit in Limpopo, the Swaziland law makers will have an opportunity to see the beauty of Limpopo, and interact with business and traditional rulers of this country. Besides sampling some of the best indigenous Limpopo food, they will also have an opportunity to attend the Legislature sitting on September 27, in Lebowakgomo.
