Hundreds of people streamed to Ha-Budeli village on Sunday to celebrate the 100th birthday of Gogo Phophi Sadiki.

Ms Sadiki is a staunch member of the United African Apostolic Church (UAAC) congregation at Ha-Dumasi. She is still vibrant and healthy. “I still can speak well, eat pap and muroho, mopani worms and fruits, but I don’t eat meat. I thank God I am still alive, because many of my age are no longer on the earth; they have all passed away,” said Gogo Sadiki.

She is regarded as the mother of all in Ha-Budeli village and a large group of villagers, family and members of the church attended the event. Her son, Mr Wilson Sadiki, said the time of celebrating and buying expensive coffins when someone is dead, especially for older people, should stop. "We must celebrate and enjoy with them while they are still alive."

A UAAC elder at Ha-Dumasi village, Mr Oasis Ramaleba, said the church was happy to celebrate her birthday because she was a valuable member and had contributed financially towards the building of a new church.
