News  Date: 07 October 2005

DZANANI – Eighteen people were seriously injured when a Mabirimisa Bus, carrying members of the Apostolic Faith Mission Church, crashed into a stationary taxi along the Dzanani-Siloam road last Sunday afternoon.

According to Insp Thivhulawi Tshilate of the Vhembe SAPS, ten people escaped the accident with minor injuries. He said that, once the driver's condition shows some improvement in hospital, they will detain him for questioning. Tshilate said that, though there is no concrete evidence at their disposal indicating that the bus’s brakes were dysfunctional as was rumoured, they have already opened a case of reckless and negligent driving at the Siloam SAPS.

The accident happened at about 15:15.
