GABA - An inquest docket has been opened by the Tshaulu SAPS, following the untimely death of a 56-year-old woman, who was cleaning her mealie field on Tuesday at about 11:30.
It is alleged that the deceased was busy cleaning her mealie field at Pfenenwe Village at Gaba. According to the police, the woman set some shrubs alight and, as the fire spread, she tried to extinguish it, but failed. It is further contended that the fire ran amok and she became surrounded by burning flames. “When community members arrived to rescue the woman, they found her lifeless body lying on the ground with burn wounds to both her hands and head,” said Capt Mashudu Malelo, spokesperson of the police. He said that police investigations were continuing.
