Two local hair models of well-known hairstylists Connie da Sousa and Luanri Fick appeared on the front pages of specialist hair magazines.
Chazelle Boersma appeared on the cover of the South African Hairdressers Journal’s October Edition. Her hairstyle and colour, named Autumn Oak, were created by Luanri Fick from C Jay’s. Luanri is one of the winning trio of the Goldwell Elumen Awards who will be flown to Amsterdam on October 29 for the annual Elumen Award prize-giving ceremony. The three hair models of the winning stylists appear together on the cover.
Luanri said that the weather changes so often in Louis Trichardt and that the inspiration for the hairstyle came from the weather on the day she created the look. Besides the winning look, Luanri also had another model in the 11 runners-up.
Marelize Botha is the model on the cover of Intercoiffure South Africa, a prestigious bi-annual hair magazine. Connie da Sousa was one of 12 hairstylists countrywide invited to participate in a photoshoot for their glossy magazine. Connie created the look on the theme Being in Love and her model, Marelize, made the front page.
Connie, owner of C Jay’s, enjoys encouraging her hairdressers to be involved in shows, photo shoots and competitions. Luanri says that Connie is her inspiration and to be around such a positive person makes hairdressing fun. Luanri was also the only hairdresser from the Limpopo to be chosen for the Redken team.
By being an Elumen Award winner, Luanri follows in the footsteps of her mentor, Connie, who won the same award last year and was flown to Berlin for the international Elumen Award Ceremony where 34 countries were represented.
