Thohoyandou police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Tshikweta village for being in possession of three bags of dagga, weighing 43,17 kg.

The suspect, Mutshinyalo Siphalale, appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case was remanded to 17 December. He was charged for dealing in dagga and he was denied bail until his next court appearance.

Insp Nkanukeni Raedani of the Thohoyandou SAPS said police acted on a tip-off when a vehicle was unloading the dagga at the suspect’s place in Tshikweta village, near Sibasa.

“We quickly responded to the tip-off and headed to his place, but the delivery vehicle was already gone. We found the dagga inside the suspect’s house and he was immediately arrested.

Raedani said the street value of the dagga is approximately R10 000.
