Two murder cases investigated

The police in the Mopani area are investigating two murder cases, following two separate incidents that took place in the area over the past weekend.

The first incident took place at the Mokwasele village in the Bolobedu area on Saturday night at about 22:00. Capt Maano Sadike, spokesperson for the police in the area, confirmed that the deceased, Freddy Mabobe (39), was found lying in the street during the night of the incident. He had two stab wounds to the lower jaw and thigh.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that a sharp instrument was used. A good Samaritan took him to the Kgapane Hospital, where he died the following morning.

The other incident took place at the New Forest village in the Mhala area on Sunday night at about 23:55.

According to the police statement, the deceased, Godfrey Mnisi (19), was found lying in the street during the night of the incident. He had a stab wound to the chest and was bleeding profusely at the time when he was found. He was taken to the Thulamahashe Health Centre where he was admitted and died the following morning. The deceased was a resident of the Hluvukani Trust. No arrest had been made in connection with the two cases at the time of going to the press.

The police appealed to anyone with information relating to the two cases to contact them at Mhlala Police Station Tel 013 773 0870 or to use their toll-free number, 0860 00 10 11. They reiterated the fact that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
