The police in Mopani have opened two inquest dockets, following two separate incidents that took place in the area over the past weekend.
The first incident took place at the Nkambako village in the Letsitele area last Friday morning at about 04:00. Capt Maano Sadike, the spokesperson for the police in the area, said that the deceased, Daniel Sithole (38), had been engaged in a heated argument with his wife the previous night. According to the police statement, the argument started after the deceased received a telephone call on his cellphone.
The woman allegedly asked the man who the caller was. The deceased told her that the caller was one of his friends. The woman started accusing the man that it was not a friend who had called, saying it was a girlfriend instead.
Realizing that the argument was growing with time, the deceased left home and vanished into the darkness. His dead body was found hanging under a tree in the nearby bushes the following morning at about 04:00. The police are investigating the matter further.
The other incident took place at Moeketsi settlement in the Duivelskloof area last Friday at about 09:00. Capt Maano Sadike said that the deceased, Mr Mulwaini Daimani (19), had been sent by his employer to buy tomatoes from ZZ2 Farm the previous day.
When he arrived at the farm, Daimani decided to go and buy some food at the Duivelskloof Shopping Centre. Realizing that he was in possession of a huge amount of cash that he was supposed to buy tomatoes with, Daimani felt that it would be a risk to take the money to town with him.
He then decided to dig a hole on the ground and put the money in it. When he came back from town, he noticed that the hole in which he had kept the money had been tampered with and that the cash had been stolen. After realizing that his employee was not coming back, his employer starting looking for him on the farm.
On arrival, Daimani told his master the whole story. The story was too difficult for the employer to believe and an argument ensued between the two over the allegedly stolen money. The deceased left the place and vanished in the bushes during the argument. His dead body was found hanging under the tree in the nearby bushes the following morning. The deceased was originally from Zimbabwe.
