Woman raped and killed

The police in the Mopani are investigating a case of murder, following a tragic incident in which a woman was raped and later killed. The incident took place at the Moune village in the Maake policing area last Friday night.

Capt Maano Sadike, the spokesperson for the police in the area, said that the body of a woman, who is believed to be 30 years old, was found lying in the street on Saturday morning at about 05:00. The body had three open stab wounds, two to the chest and one on the left thigh.

Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that the woman had been raped before she was killed. According to the police statement, the woman’s underwear was lying next to the body when it was discovered. The body was still to be identified and no arrest had been made at the time of going to press.

The police have appealed to anyone with information relating to the case to contact them at any police station or phone them at their toll free number: 0860010111. Capt Sadike has stressed the fact that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
