The Makhado Police arrested two men for dealing in dagga and confiscated dagga with a street value of R100 000 on Monday. The men were arrested while offloading the dagga from a minibus at Ayob Motors at about 14:50.
The police received a tip-off that one of the suspects had boarded an minibus in Gauteng with a large quantity of the drug in his possession. They were also told that an Isuzu bakkie was waiting for the suspect with dagga at Ayob Motors.
According to the police spokesperson, Insp Daniel Ndlovu of the Makhado SAPS, when the suspect alighted from the minibus with two bags, the police were already at the delivery spot. After loading the two bags with marijuana into the bakkie, Ndlovu said that the police confronted the driver and the one who was loading. “As the police have the right to search, when we opened the bags we discovered 16 plastic bags filled with dagga weighing 56,364 kg. We immediately arrested the two and they will be appearing in the Makhado magistrate’s court on a charge of dealing with dagga soon,” he said.
