She was mercilessly burnt with hot water for demanding her own TV set and cell phone, which she had lent to her sister! Now, Nancy Sithole (25) of Tshandama RDP Houses is crying in agony, because of the terrible pain on her back, caused by her own sister.
Still visibly in pain, the unemployed Nancy said the incident happened last Wednesday. As her RDP house was recently electrified, she thought of going to her sister’s house to collect a TV set which she lent her earlier last year. That is where all hell broke loose!
“My sister, Eunice, was very aggressive when I told her that I have come to collect my TV set. I managed to get into her house and I took the TV set although I could see that she was very hostile…” Nancy said more troubles started when she went back to Eunice’s house to collect the TV chords.
“As if she was possessed, she threw the chords out though the window and told me to leave. Before I took the chords, I told her to bring back my cell phone, which I had lent her. I went into her house and she told me that I would never get the cell phone back. She lured me into her kitchen where I noticed that there was an electric kettle with boiling water but I did not suspect anything. She immediately told me to go out of her house and I turned to use the back door, walking slowly. Like lightning, I felt something very hot on my back. That is where I realized that she had poured the boiling water on my back! How can my own sister do such a bad thing to me? We are born from the same mother and we have to sit down and talk whenever we have problems.”
Nancy said she did not fight back, but instead, she went to her house and asked a friend to pour cold water on her back to neutralize the pain.
“I did not even take the TV chords along as I was only concerned with my life. I then went to the clinic where I received some treatment and went home. Clinic staff gave me a form to take to the police station to register a case against Eunice.” However, Nancy said she decided not to open a case against her sister and she believes she will come forward and ask forgiveness.
“This is more of a family matter and I think she will send some elders to ask forgiveness. Furthermore, Eunice is unemployed and she has four kids whom she looks after. I am only concerned about her kids because if she is arrested, no one will look after them. I’m prepared to forgive her because blood is thicker than water…”
Attempts to get hold of Eunice were fruitless as she was not available and her phone was always on voice mail.
