SIBASA – The well-known local men’s forum, Munna ndi nnyi, presented gifts to Mbilwi Secondary School for producing a 100% pass in the Grade 12 examination during a ceremony at the school last Friday.
Led by Baldwin Mufunwaini, the men’s forum said they are impressed by the hard work that Mbilwi Secondary School is doing. This secondary school has been producing 100% passes for the past 12 years. Although some of the teachers are joining private schools, the vacancies are filled with creative, dedicated and competitive young tutors who excel in mathematics and physical science.
The principal, Mr Nditsheni Ramugondo, said there is no other secret than hard work and dedication to the job. “We do not work for S-symbols and several of the people who matriculated at Mbilwi are heading government departments. Mbilwi produced 28 A symbols in biology last year.” He added that the school’s winter school is very popular and even learners from Gauteng Province attend it.
The acting senior district manager, Mr Moses Rathando, said he was still worried about the performance of some private schools in the Vhembe District. Most of these schools are producing poor results in Grade 12. “We have 37 circuits in the Vhembe District and we are trying to equip them with relevant resources. One of the private school had 448 learners, 87 passed and 361 failed. This school must improve in order to produce 100% pass rate in this year,” he said.
On behalf of Mayor Sam Moeti, Cllr Lucy Mulaudzi said Mbilwi Secondary is making Limpopo Province proud, and Vhembe must work hard in order to become the best district in the province.
