They call him Lizard Boy

News  Date: 10 February 2006

An 8-year-old boy, Ndivhuwo Sibei of Madabani Village in the Sinthumule area, has been suffering from a strange disease, called leopard skin or lizard skin, since his birth.

His mother, Fhatuwani Sibei, said that her son developed the “lizard skin” after he was born at the Tshilwavhisiku Health Care Center. After she delivered, she was told that she had to go to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital and was admitted for a week before they transferred her to Polokwane, where she stayed for a month.

He was in pain and was crying for help all the time. “We have visited traditional healers several times as well as medical doctors, but nobody was able to help him. We spent lots of money, without any success,” said his mother.

She appealed to the Department of Health or anyone who will be able to help to come forward. During the interview with Mirror, young Ndivhiwo complained of pain and discomfort. He also added that the other boys run when they see him and some call him Lizard or Baboon.

Anyone who can assist him, can phone 084 698 7958 or 072 335 8828
