The Makhado Municipality’s new Council have been announced. Of the 73 seats in Council, 37 are Ward seats and 36 are PR (Proportional Representative) seats.
All candidates elected as Ward Councillors of Makhado Municipality are candidates of the African National Congress except for Ward 15 where the Independent Democrats won the Ward. Ward 20 combines part of Louis Trichardt with Vleifontein and Ward 21 combines part of Louis Trichardt with Tshikota and Waterpoort.
The Ward Councillors per Ward are Donald Mauba (Ward 1), George Ramashia (Ward 2), Gladys Ngwana (Ward 3), Dorcus Mboyi (Ward 4), Florah Mahani (Ward 5), Martha Rekhotso (Ward 6), Elizabeth Ngobeni (Ward 7), Joseph Rikhotso (Ward 8), Gideon Tshavhuyo (Ward 9), Patricia Baladzi (Ward 10), Elvis Lebea (Ward 11), David Mulovhedzi (Ward 12), Teresia Ndhliwayo (Ward 13), Cartson Honwana (Ward 14), David Manganyi of the Independent Democrats (Ward 15), Solomon Maguga (Ward 16), Wilfred Mashele (Ward 17), Evelyn Ngobeni (Ward 18), Elisa Maduwa (Ward 19), Dudley Malete (Ward 20), Gedeon Nchauba (Ward 21), Agnes Mashamba (Ward 22), Jeaneth Matumba (Ward 23), Selina Gundula (Ward 24), Johannah Nemalegeni (Ward 25), Norman Mabila (Ward 26), Albert Matodzi (Ward 27), Joas Murovhi (Ward 28), Rosemary Mufamadi (Ward 29), Khathutshelo Mavhungu (Ward 30), Steven Matamela (Ward 31), Sephaphane Maphala (Ward 32), Lydia Siphuma (Ward 33), Dina Ramudzuli (Ward 34), Alfred Makhera (Ward 35), Elisa Maboho (Ward 36) and Jerry Dzhombe (Ward 37).
The 36 Proportional Representative councillors comprise two seats for the African Christian Democratic Party, four seats for the Democratic Alliance, one each for the independent Democrats, Pan Africanist Congress of Azania, United Democratic Movement and Ximoko Party and 26 for the ANC. The two ACDP PR councillors are Brighton Hlongwane and Marie Helm. The DA’s four PR councillors are Jeremiah Mahwai, Jacques Smalle, Brian du Plooy and Kenny Maboho. Sipho Masuka is PR councillor for the ID, Simon Radamba for the PAC, Patson Mashau for the UDM and Vivan Mahlaule for Ximoko. The ANC’s PR councillors are Sariel Nkuzana, Linda Nthulane, Lawrence Munungufhala, Grace Machovani, Daniel Kumalo, David Mutavhatsindi, Esther Makhomisani, Michael Makhado, Margaret Makananise, Nelson Makhado, Prescilla Nephawe, Phillip Phaswana, James Mudau, Ruth Makhubela, Amie Chhaya, Julia Mukhaha, Betty Lowane, Samson Baloyi, Patricia Reyneke, Patrick Sikhutshi, Joan Hoorzuk, Bernard Bopape, Grace Nkanyani, Albert Muvhumbe, Florence Rumani and Rufus Selepe.
The seats allocated to the different parties for representatives on the Vhembe District Council were ten for the ANC, one each for ACDP, DA, ID and PAC.
