Makhado (Louis Trichardt) is fast becoming the crime and murder capital of the world. The number of armed robberies, farm attacks, murders on farmers, armed attacks and murders in the town and its surrounding areas in comparison with its population, must surely be reaching record proportions, says the TAU SA North Region.

In a press release, the president of the TAU SA North, Mr Dries Joubert, reacted on yet another armed attack, this time on the well-known Van den Berg business couple on Tuesday this week. He expressed profound shock and said it seemed as if the same modus operandi had been followed as in the assassination of businessman Ben Fisser, Sunday a week ago.

Mr Joubert says ideologically driven “transformation” since 1994 has resulted in a total collapse of the SAPS’s protection of law-abiding citizens’ safety. This has deteriorated to such an extent that it is at present blatant foolishness to expect and depend on protection from the SAPS.

He called on the community to link up with the existing farm protection units and to establish similar self-protection units in town.

“The SAPS is totally powerless against criminals. This will remain the situation until ideologically driven ‘transformation’ is replaced by a general respect for the basic principles of moral decency and respect for the lives of all people.”

He expressed condolences with all families affected by the present ongoing wave of terror against white residents.
