Murder investigation follows couple's death

The police are investigating a murder and have also opened an inquest docket, following the death of a 48-year-old man, Louis Silinda, and his wife, Maria Maluleke (45). The tragic incident took place at the Tsuvukani Trust settlement in the Mhlala area on Monday afternoon.

According to the spokesperson for the police in the Mopani area, Capt Maano Sadike, the police received information from the residents that they had heard a strange noise from the deceased’s house. They proceeded to the scene at about 16:00.

On arrival, the police found Silinda’s body hanging from the rafters of his house. His wife’s body was lying next to his in a pool of blood. According to the police statement, there were several stab wounds all over the woman’s body.

There was a panga next to the woman’s body.

*In the meantime, the police are investigating a murder case following an incident that took place at the Mabete settlement in the Letsitele area on Tuesday morning this week at about 08:00.

According to the police statement, the deceased, Mrs Berlinda Sina (21), from Nyagelani village was found bleeding profusely in her house by the neighbours. She had several stab wounds to the back and shoulder. She was taken to the nearby Letaba hospital.

The statement indicates that Sina died before she could be admitted to the hospital. The police were looking for a Mozambican resident, Mr Derrick Edie Ngobeni, who they believe can assist them in their investigations at the time of going to press. Ngobeni and the deceased were staying together as husband and wife during the time of the incident.
