MPHENI – When the majority of young people are still asking themselves what their country can do for them, the youth around the Hlanganani area officially introduced the Makomba Dlela Youth Movement, an organization where young people can assemble and deliberate constructively on matters that affect them.

According to Mr Koki Maluleke of the Makomba Ndlela Youth Movement, the official launching was done in a joint venture with the Department of Health and Welfare and the Elim Sasko Bakery. He added that they will engage the youth to debate on issues that affect their daily lives and talk to them about peer pressure, where they will focus on delaying youths from engaging themselves in sexual activities.

He added that the theme of the day was the RDP method: Reduce the number of your partners, Delay yourselves from sexual activities and Protect yourself and others. He said they realised the major problems which are confronting the area are crime, HIV/Aids and teenage pregnancies. “We are of the view that, by establishing this movement, we will mobilise a number of youths who are troubling the community to come and participate constructively.”

He further claimed that, since the centre was officially launched, youths are flocking there in large numbers, indicating their interest to participate in helping each other realise their future goals.
