As part of building interprovincial relations between Limpopo and Erongo, the governor of the Erongo regional council in Namibia, Mr Samuel Sheefeni, and three other representatives from Namibia paid homage to the statue of King Makhado at the Information Tourism Centre during their visit to the province last week.
The Namibians toured all six districts of the Limpopo Province. On arrival at Makhado, Sheefeni said that Limpopo is the paradise of South Africa. “We want to familiarise ourselves with this province in terms of farming, tourism and culture, to mention but a few. We are impressed by what we have observed in this province. The people in this part of the country made us feel at home and we have learnt a lot from this province,” said the governor.
The regional co-ordinator of Limpopo Tourism and Parks in Vhembe, Mr Morris Mabada, described the visit of the Namibian delegations to the Vhembe district and the province as the opening of communications between the two countries, which will certainly benefit Limpopo. “We viewed their visit as an opportunity to market our district and province, so that when they get back to their country, they will talk more about ourselves and in that regard we can expect more tourists from Namibia,” he said.
