Although he was found in the possession of a human testicle, penis, tongue and lips when the police arrived at his home in October 2005, ritual murder suspect Albert Phosha (54) of Tshidzini Village on Thursday appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court reapplying for bail.
Phosha’s lawyer, Mr Wisani Baloyi, said his client is reapplying the bail because he can supply new evidence that will support his pledge to be released.
In January, Phosha confirmed he received a human penis, tongue, testicle and lips from a herb seller, Robert Dzebu. He also admitted that he took the human body parts and hid them in the container at his home. These human body parts were confirmed to have been removed from the late Maanda Sendedza who was ritual murdered at Shadani in the Mutale area. He was buried with missing body parts at Makonde village.
His lover, Nyelisani Sidimela’s lips were allegedly sliced off and roasted at Phosha’s home at Tshidzini. He admitted that he paid Dzebu R1 500, and he said it was not the fees for the human body parts, but I was just for herbs. Phosha also confirmed he received more human body parts from Mr Eddie Tshimomo Munyai. These parts include head, leg, and ribs that were temporarily buried at the banks of the Mutshundudi River.
Phosha’s bail application was postponed to June 20.
The Director of Public Prosecution, Mr David Manyuha ruled that Robert Dzebu, Albert Phosha and Tshimomo Munyai should be prosecuted in the Thohoyandou High Court from September 4.
