Marc Reidy-Crofts, well-known businessman and member of Round Table Zoutpansberg 66, suddenly passed away on Monday this week.
The 39-year-old Marc had been co-owner of the Olivillas Restaurant, which opened its doors in March last year. According to his business partner, he had been feeling under par for some time and had been admitted to the local private hospital for a bleeding ulcer. On Monday (17th) he was transferred to the hospital in Polokwane, but passed away shortly after arriving at the Intensive Care Unit just before 17:00 in the afternoon.
Marc had been involved with Round Table for the past 12 years and had been in the position of treasurer up until his unexpected death.
Round Tabler Mr Brian du Plooy said that condolences have streamed in from Marc’s friends overseas.
“Mark always participated keenly in all the activities and will be sorely missed,” said Brian.
“You touched our lives in so many ways, you were always there for us, just a phone call away, ready to assist us in any way we needed.
Cooking for us, helping at functions, breathing life into our parties and get-togethers - always with a smile on your face and with those all-too-familiar words ‘Ladies, how are we today?’ Marc, we will miss you so very much. Rest in peace, our dear friend,” was the message from members of Ladies Circle 4.
Marc’s mother lives in Cape Town and his father from the Natal Coast was away on an overseas trip at the time of his death.
“Goodbye, my dearest Marc,” said a saddened Heidi Reidy-Crofts. She also thanked all who shared in Marc’s life and joy. As Marc loved animals very much, Heidi asked people not to send her flowers, although the gesture is appreciated, but rather to give a donation to the local SPCA.
A memorial service for Marc will be held on Friday, July 21, at 11:00 at the Methodist Church in Munnik Street.
