Makhado police have opened a case of culpable homicide following the death of four people during a vehicle accident on the N1 north on Wednesday, July 27.
According to police spokesperson Supt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, the driver lost control of the vehicle after which it collided with the Bala-Bala Conservation farm’s concrete entrance gate. Two men aged 37 and 36, a 35-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl died in the accident. Two other children, aged four and five respectively, sustained fractures, but survived the accident and were taken to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter. In 1995 he left the newspaper group and travelled overseas for a couple of months. In 1996, Andries rejoined the Zoutpansberger as a reporter. In August 2002, he was appointed as News Editor of the Zoutpansberger, a position he holds until today.
