Zimbabwean killed for a mere R14

A 30-year-old Zimbabwean man who was discovered dead at Manamani last Thursday was allegedly robbed of R14.

Four suspects, aged 16, 17, 18 and 24, are in custody of the Thohoyandou police, following the death of the Zimbabwean. According to the police statement, the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood, with an open wound to the head, while a burn wound was spotted on his shoulder.

It is further alleged that a stone was also found next to the lifeless body of the man, who is believed to be a Zimbabwean, who managed to survive by doing piece jobs at the local mealie fields. "After a thorough investigation, four suspects were arrested and it was also found that the suspects had robbed him of R14," reads part of the police statement.

While the suspects are expected to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder soon, the police are appealing to members of the community to assist them in identifying the deceased, so that his relatives can be located.
