Tumiso Ramoshala (20) of Matlala village was crowned the new Miss Black Leopards beauty queen during the contest that was staged at the Oasis Lodge in Polokwane last Saturday evening. Tumiso is a second-year law student at the University of South Africa. She was crowned by the former title holder, Mudzunga Sumbana.

Some of the prizes that she has won include a clothing voucher to the value of R5 000, a Translux open ticket for the duration of her reign, a DSTV package and a cash prize of R20 000. Michelle Miyeni (18) from Waterval is the first princess, with Itumeleng Matabane (23) of Lebowakgomo the second princess. The prizes for the first and second princesses included cash and clothing vouchers. Fourteen beautiful girls from all over the province took part in the contest.

The managing director of Black Leopards, Mr David Thidiela, who was coincidentally celebrating his 55th birthday last Saturday, appealed to the new beauty queen to be a good ambassador for the club.

The MEC for Sports Arts and Culture, Mr Joe Maswanganyi, praised Thidiela, for not selling the franchise of the club like Dynamos, despite their financial constraints. He revealed that the provincial government had decided to form a partnership with Black Leopards. He further indicated that the full package for the partnership will be revealed in a few weeks’ time.

Maswanganyi presented all the contestants with the wooden frames of the new Limpopo Provincial government’s brand. The contest was sponsored by MTN, Kanana Bread, Reris Insurance Brokers, Classic Funeral Directors and Multi Choice.
