Three die in fatal accidents

The SAPS at Makhado (Louis Trichardt) have opened two separate culpable homicide cases after two fatal road accidents on Tuesday this week.

Two members of the SANDF died in an accident on the road to the Air Force Base late onTuesday night.

Earlier the day, an employee of the Basil Read construction company was fatally injured when he was knocked down by a vehicle while crossing the tarred road under construction near the Ingwe Motel.

According to a police statement, the two SANDF members were passengers in a Polo Classic. The accident happened at about 23:36 when the driver of the vehicle apparently lost control and the vehicle overturned near the Air-force Base. The two passengers died on the scene. The driver and another passenger escaped with injuries and were transported to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital.

At Ingwe, a 44-year-old male road construction worker was knocked down and died while crossing the N1 at about 16:30 on Tuesday. According to a police statement, the man was on duty when he was knocked down by a passing vehicle. He died on the scene.

The police are investigating the two accidents.
