Former Miss Black Leopards 2001, Aluwani Ramawa, is the new face at Muvhango, the Venda drama on SABC2.
Ramawa, 21, from Golgotha in Thoyandou, first appeared in Muvhango on July 24, as Livhuwani, a maid for Thandaza. Ramawa, also a former Miss SAPS far north, landed her role at Muvhango after she passed the auditions held in February.
Although she has never been in acting before, Ramawa is doing well in her new role and she is looking forwards to the serious challenges. “I never thought I could act, especially when I consider that I do not have acting qualifications.
“On the first day when I was shooting I was very nervous, but on the second and third day I became comfortable,” says Ramawa, a former presenter of children’s programs at Univen Radio.
“Before, I took this challenge lightly, but my character is growing because they have seen my potential, which is good,” says Ramawa. Besides acting, Ramawa is busy with her second year of a business communication diploma through the Tshwane University of Technology. She also did a one-year course in Information Technology.
Ramawa is so excited about acting to the extent that she is now ready for any opportunities that may come.
“I did not to actually believe that I could act, which made it difficult for me to decide if I was ready for this challenge, but I decided that I could actually do it as I was chosen in the auditions. Now I feel extremely proud of myself for what I am doing. The only challenge I have is to balance between my studies and acting, as they are equally important,” says Ramawa, the second-born daughter of Thanyani Ramawa, a presenter at Phalaphala Fm.
