News  Date: 07 May 2004

NZHELELE – The jilted lover who shot himself in the head finally died in the Siloam hospital last week.

He was under police guard on a charge of attempting to kill his 17-year-old ex-girl friend at Tshithuthuni Village.

According to Insp Thivhulawi Tshilate, the girl was going to attend school at Nditsheni Secondary School when she was shot in the neck and shoulder by her former boyfriend last Monday.

Insp Tshilate told Mirror that the man was demanding to continue with their relationship, and the girl refused. When an argument broke out, the suspect demanded his photos back, which he had given to her during the time when love was still hot.

It is further alleged that the suspect produced a Z88 pistol and shot the girl twice, after which she collapsed.

The suspect disappeared and shot himself once in the head at Tshavhalovhedzi Village.

Both were taken to the Siloam Hospital for treatment. The girl is in a stable condition, while the suspect was in a critical condition.

The police confiscated the pistol and the investigation is still continuing.

The suspect died and was buried at Siloam last Saturday.
