Thohoyandou High School is the first beneficiary of the Maskew Miller Longman Publishing Company’s Educational Support Project in the Vhembe District. The school was presented with a brand new TV/DVD Combo, worth R6 000, at a ceremony held at the school on Thursday last week.

Maskew Miller Longman Publishing Company’s regional director in Limpopo, Mr Ngaka Kekana, says the company will distribute a total number of 10 TV/DVD combos in the province. “Entry forms were handed out to schools and the final draw was conducted at our head office in Cape Town. The project is stretched out to all the provinces and our company will hand out 77 TV/DVD combos countrywide.”

Handing out the TV/DVD combo to the Thohoyandou High School, senior sales representative of the Maskew Miller Longman Publishing Company Steven Mukwevho said the presentation is part of his company’s plough-back policy.

“There is a need to give back to the schools because we work with them on a daily basis. Our mandate is to make sure that the education of our children is running smoothly and we also offer teaching aids, where necessary. This is because over the years, we have realized and acknowledged their support and we are bound to do something to reward them.”

Deputy principal at the school Tommy Nesengani said: “This is a great step towards academic development in our school because our learners will be able to broaden their horizons through the learning aids presented here today.”

A jubilant learner at the school, Khodani Mulaudzi, could not hide her joy and said: “Our learning experience will now be simplified, thanks to the presentation from the Maskew Miller Longman Publishing Company.”
