Khutso Maponya (left) and Maake Maropeng (right) was granted bail on Thursday following their arrest in connection with the business burglary and theft at Pick n Pay in Louis Trichardt on 2 August.

Pick n Pay theft suspects granted bail

 

The two Pick n Pay managers arrested following a theft at the store they were working at, were granted bail on Thursday, 16 August.

Khutso Maponya (28) and (30), respectively a floor manager, and perishable foods manager at Pick n Pay Louis Trichardt, were arrested along the N1 north just outside of Louis Trichardt on 6 August. They were arrested in connection for a burglary at the store on 2 August.

According to the police, employees arrived at the store in Makhado Crossing in the morning and found that a large, undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen from the cash office by unknown suspects. It was unknown how the suspects had gained access to the store. Following the burglary, police arrested Maponya and Maake as suspects.

During the court appearance on Thursday, Maponya was granted bail of R15 000, while Maake was granted bail of R5 000. Their case was also postponed until 28 September this year pending further police investigation.

Andries van Zyl

Andries joined the Zoutpansberger and Limpopo Mirror in April 1993 as a darkroom assistant. Within a couple of months he moved over to the production side of the newspaper and eventually doubled as a reporter.
