Limpopo Tourism and Parks Board chairperson, Ms Nana Magomola, has listed some important reasons why Limpopo continues to attract tourists.
Addressing a breakfast meeting at Indaba 2004 in Durban, which was hosted by the Limpopo Board, she said the province offered a wide variety of experiences.
The fact that the magnificent northern region of the Kruger National was adjacent to the province, had proved to be a significant plus factor. Tourists had discovered that this part of the wildlife sanctuary offered outstanding accommodation and excellent wildlife viewing, due the sparser vegetation.
Another reason to visit the province was its scenic beauty and wide variety of vegetation - aspects which attracted many nature lovers, Ms Magomola explained.
Furthermore, the province had a lot to offer culturally, due to its large number of heritage sites of national and international importance.
A notable reason for Limpopo's high international status as a preferred tourism destination was the value for money it offered visitors.
Finally, the people of the province were a great asset, as they invariably made visitors feel welcome. In this regard, Ms Magomola said, it was interesting to note that seven of the nation's language groups were represented in Limpopo.
