Drowning: Inquest docket opened

News  Date: 26 January 2007

Police in Musina have opened an inquest, following the drowning of a 45 year-old man who plunged into a dam while fishing at Mangenoeg Farm near Musina town last weekend.

Police spokesman in Limpopo Province Supt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi told Mirror that the incident occurred on Saturday (20 January) at around 16:00. He said the deceased, Piet Seromola, was fishing together with his wife when he accidentally slid from a slippery surface.

"The deceased was fishing with his wife at the farm dam and on trying to change the fishing angle, he apparently lost his footing and slipped, resulting in his falling into the dam," Mushavhanamadi said.

He said the wife reported the matter to the police who then retrieved the body.

The body was taken to the Musina Government mortuary for a post-mortem.
