Mdaka to lead ANC

The regional conference of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Vhembe region has come and gone, but it remains to be seen if members of the ruling party in the region will continue operating in camps.

During the two-day conference held at the Makhado Multi-Purpose Centre, a new regional leadership was elected. Mr Philemon Mdaka was elected unopposed as the new regional chairperson for the next two years.

Mrs Livhuwani Mabidzha was elected as Mdaka’s assistant. Mr Paul Fhedzisani Mainganye replaced Mr "Screamer" Ndivhuwo Mamathuba when he was elected as the ANC’s new regional minutes secretary.

Mainganye will be assisted by Mrs Faith Chauke. MPL Nandi Ndalane from Elim will deal with financial matters of the new regional structure. She replaced the mayor of Musina, Lucas Manyuha.

Both Glory Mashaba, mayor of Makhado, and her municipal manager, Faith Muthambi, were elected as additional members. Messrs Tshifhiwa Dali, Musanda Thivhulawi Makumbane and Ndivhuwo "Screamer" Mamathuba were also elected as additional members.
