A 21-year-old Zimbabwean illegal immigrant was allegedly stoned to death by his fellow countrymen in Mushongoville suburb in Musina, following an undisclosed dispute.
The police spokesman for Limpopo Province in Vhembe district, Superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi, told Mirror that the incident occurred on January 27 at around 13:30 at Mushongoville suburb.
"The victim, who was an illegal immigrant from Zimbabwe, was stoned by a group of three suspects who are also illegal immigrants from that country. We suspect they had a dispute, which could have eventually led to the attack. The victim died on the spot as a result of the injuries he had sustained," he said.
Mushavhanamadi said police took the body to the Musina Government mortuary for a post mortem.
He could not release the name of the deceased, saying they were yet to locate his relatives in Zimbabwe.
The three suspects, aged between 22 and 27, have since been arrested and will appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court soon on murder charges.
