The police in the Mopani area are investigating a case of murder following the death of a 60-year-old man. The incident occurred at the Bolobedu settlement on Monday morning at about 02:00.
Supt Moatshe Ngoepe, the spokesperson for the police in the area, said that the deceased was busy fighting with his wife when the incident occurred.
According to the police statement, the suspect arrived at the scene during the ordeal. He allegedly tried to intervene. The statement indicates that the deceased lost his temper and stabbed the suspect with a knife. The suspect allegedly retaliated by hitting the deceased with a hard object on the head, killing him on the spot.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon. He was still to appear before the Bolobedu Magistrate’s court at the time of going to press. The police are investigating the matter further.
