A 34-year-old Makhado man was killed in an accident in Zimbabwe after he had lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road, before overturning, following a tyre burst, police said.
Zimbabwean police spokesman for Matabeleland South province Insp Tafanana Dzirutwe told Mirror that the accident occurred on January 31 at around 20:00 along the Beitbridge-Masvingo road. "The victim, who was a South African, was driving a Nissan Champ bakkie. On reaching the 248 km peg, a tyre burst, resulting in his losing control of the car; it veered off the road and overturned. He was thrown out of the car through the shattered windscreen and he plunged headlong onto a rock and died on the spot, due to severe head injuries sustained," Dzirutwe said. He identified the deceased as Mahloma Masemula. His body was conveyed to the Beitbridge District Hospital mortuary for a post mortem.
