Hilmary's children need counselling

News  Date: 01 October 2004

MBILWI – The Hilmary Learning Centre is still perplexed and shocked by the recent hangings of the three children at Mbilwi-Makanga Village and has advised parents to share their problems with pastors and social workers.

The principal, Mrs Hilda Ramabulana, said children are still mourning the death of their friends. “It is very difficult to handle and console these children, especially those who were their classmates,” she said. “We put it on record that similar situations cannot be condoned and we harshly condemn the way it was done,” she ads.

Dean Alunamutwe Rannditsheni of the Lutheran Church said the School needs parents and close relatives to sit around the table and iron out their misunderstandings. “We believe that pastors, social workers and clinical psychologists are there to help us to solve our problems,” he said. He also appealed to all community members to make use of such people.

Mrs Ramabulana added that, at present, they are seeking counselling, especially for the children who had attended the burial of their friends. “We also feel obliged to console the close relatives of the innocent children who were hanged to put their trust in the Almighty God,” she said.

The SGB Chairperson, Dean Alunamutwe Rannditsheni, said the school wishes God to heal their minds and their hearts from the pain they have endured since the traumatic event. “As the Hilmary School Learning Center, we are deeply touched by this horrific situation and our wish is that nothing similar should ever occur again” he said. “Let us all love life and preserve it,” said Dean Rannditsheni.
