Police spokesperson in Limpopo Supt Ailwei Mushavhanamadi told Mirror that the incident occurred on Monday, shortly before midnight. "The victim was in the company of a friend and they were on their way to their truck, which they had parked at the truck-inn. They were then followed by four suspects, who eventually confronted them," he said.
Mushavhanamadi said one of the suspects then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, who died on the spot. The Malawian was identified as Samson Chotha Thembo and his body was taken to Makhado for a post mortem.
The police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder. According to the police, one suspect is still at large and they believe that he might have fled to Zimbabwe.
The three suspects, Jimmy Moyo (20), Prince Sithole and a 17-year-old youth, have since appeared in the Musina Magistrate’s court. All three were refused bail and the case was postponed to February 28.
