A 30-year-old security guard at the Musina Fire Station was found dead inside his car last Wednesday, after he was allegedly stabbed fatally by two Zimbabwean illegal immigrants, following their arrest for loitering near the fire station.
Police spokesperson for Limpopo Capt Mashudu Malelo told Mirror that the incident happened at around midnight. "The victim had apparently arrested the two Zimbabweans for loitering near the premises he was guarding. Along the way to the police station, the two allegedly teamed up and murdered him and left his body in his car.
The body of the victim was spotted by several passersby, who reported the matter to the police. "The body had multiple stab wounds and we suspect he was stabbed with a knife by the suspects before they fled," Malelo said. The body was taken to the Musina Government mortuary for a post mortem.
Malelo said they have since intensified the manhunt for the two suspects. "It is suspected the two could have crossed back to Zimbabwe," he said.
In another incident, a 23-year-old woman in Waterpoort was also last week seriously injured when she was stabbed and robbed of her cell phone. Malelo said the police have since arrested the suspect on a charge of attempted murder. The suspect, an illegal Zimbabwean immigrant, will appear in court soon.
