Well-known and celebrated Limpopo comedian Isaac ‘Vhakoma’ Mamushiana (29) of Vhakoma Productions says he will never stoop using his talent, despite the threats that he is getting on daily basis.
Mamushina says his life has been turned into a nightmare for the past two moths, after he received calls from stalkers who told him to stay away from participating in the movie-making industry. He says he has so far reported the matter to the Thohoyandou police.
"I usually get calls from unusual or private numbers that tell me to quit the movie circles. Some even told me that they would destroy me because I imitate the late Vho-Maswigiri Ratshitanga. No one will ever take my talent because God gave it to me for a reason. I am an entertainer by nature and I will never stop showcasing my talent, as long as I live."
Vhakoma says he is adamant that the threats are made by jealous people who do not want to see him prosper in the movie industry. "I am the one who started with the Venda comedies locally and some people are trying to follow in my footsteps. When they noticed that they could not achieve what I did, they then started to make my life miserable. I will rather die than leave this career, which I like so much."
Vhakoma added that he even tried to change his contact number on several occasions, but the stalkers never stop bothering him. "Some of the messages which I received include Ni ddita Vho-Maswigiri muthannga, ro do ni bora badi, (You imitate Vho-Maswagiri, we will get rid of you), Ni diita boswo ya mimuvi (You think you are the king of the movies) and Bvelani kule na zwimovie zwanu (Go away with your movies).
Vhakoma said he decided to break the silence because he can no longer afford to keep quiet anymore. "I have taken it as a personal matter for some time but this is the time to tell everyone what I am coming across. I beg these people to stop bothering me because I am only displaying my talent."
