KHALAVHA - A 27-year-old Mozambiquean man was hacked and injured by two suspects who approached him at Khalavha Village last Thursday night.

Mr Raphael Chikoropo Chibambu from Mozambique was in his house with his two wives, when two suspects, armed with an axe, entered the home. They allegedly grabbed Mr Chikoropo, demanding money from him.

They then chopped him on the head and disappeared with his cellular phone, clothes and R110.

One of his wives, who is myopic, sustained an injury in her attempt to run away during the incident. Chi-koropo told Mirror that the two suspects told him that they wanted to kill him. The police know the two suspects and they are allegedly residents of Khalavha.

On Sunday, residents of Khalavha gathered at the Chief’s kraal to discuss the future of foreigners at Khalavha. The Siloam Police also attended the meeting and they agreed that all foreigners without passports or South African documents should be repatriated.

During the meeting, the police warned residents not to take the law into their own hands.
