Major successes for police over weekend

Major successes were achieved during a special police operation which was held in the Musina area over the past weekend.

According to the police’s Supt Ronel Otto in Polokwane, members of the Musina police, together with members of the Thohoyandou Crime Combating Unit, worked tirelessly over the weekend, focussing on illegal foreigners crossing the border into South Africa from Zimbabwe.

A total of 929 illegal foreigners were arrested and 21 people were arrested for aiding and abetting these illegal foreigners. Their vehicles were also impounded.

Apart from the above successes, 10 traffic offenders were acted against, while six people were arrested for selling liquor without a licence. Five people were caught for illegal gambling and another 12 for drinking in public. One person was arrested for the possession of dagga and, in total, 21 vehicles were impounded.
