The chairperson of the Greater Musina Development Forum, Mr Sinky Makushu, came out to claim that he was the chief, a rightful owner of Sehlalangenkani and a direct descendent of Chief Musolombi Makushu. His statements have been received with total denial by Mr Chillyboy Makushu.
A fortnight ago, Mirror carried a story where Sinky Makushu blamed the Musina Local Municipality for undermining him as chief and rightful owner of Sehlalangenkani, where they recently demolished shacks. This week, the son of Chief Makushu, Mr Chillyboy Makushu, said that they were shocked when they read in Mirror that Sinky is claiming to be a chief and a direct descendent of Musolombi Makushu.
"He might be using a similar surname to ours, but we do not know him and we do not know what he is exactly claiming, but one thing for sure, he is causing confusion amongst the people. I can publicly say it that I am from the Ha-Makushu royal kraal and, in that regard, I wonder if Sinky can come out to tell the public from which royal kraal he comes from. He must also tell us of which village he is chief," he said.
According to Chillyboy, there is no one called Musolombi Makushu. "Musolombi is the name of our civic association at Ha-Makushu and the name of a village next to our settlement. We want to put it clear and straight that Sinky is not a chief of Ha-Makushu, but perhaps he is chief of Sehlalangenkani," he said.
According to Chillyboy, if Sinky has grudges against the Musina Municipality, it is important for him not to involve the Makushus in one way or another. "As the royal family, we do not know a person called Sinky Makushu and we do not want our relationship with the Musina Municipality to become sour because of him," he said.
When contacted to comment about the other Makushus, Sinky Makhushu said: "I don´t want to reveal a lot of stories. Chillyboy must understand that his father was born outside the royal family (vho tou da navho). Chillyboy and his father are the ones without the royal blood in their veins. If they keep on taking advantage, I will expose them in public."
