Two Zimbabweans were killed, while three others were injured, two of them seriously, when the Toyota Hilux they were traveling in was involved in a head-on collision with another Zimbabwean truck along N1 highway near Dorothy farm outside Musina, police have said.
The SAPS spokesperson, Debra Bob, said the accident occurred on Tuesday at around 18:00. "The driver of the Toyota Hilux 4x4 was trying to overtake a truck and subsequently encroached into the lane of oncoming traffic, resulting in his vehicle’s ramming into the truck," she said.
The car was heading towards Musina with four people on board, while the truck was coming from Louis Trichardt.
Bob said one of the people died on the spot, while the other died the following day at Musina Hospital, where he had been admitted due to severe injuries sustained to the head.
The deceased are Revolution Moyo and Alfred Phiri. The injured were also rushed to Musina hospital. The truck driver, who was travelling alone, sustained minor injuries.
The accident comes barely a month after another 30-year-old Musina woman was killed while two others were seriously injured when the car they were traveling in veered off the road and overturned along the N1 Highway near Musina.
