"Mr Ramantswana was a selfless, charismatic and disciplined member of the ANC, who always complied with the policies of the movement. He served entirely at grassroots level and he never had his eye on any top position. As the community of Tshikuwi, we have really suffered a loss," said Mr Wilfred Tshikosi, a community member of Tshikuwi village on the death of Mr Sendedza Thompson Ramantswana.

Mr Ramantswana (55) passed away on Monday (2nd) at his home village after a short illness. Born in 1952 at Tshitomboni Village, Ramantswana completed his teaching diploma in 1975 at the Tshisimani Training College of Education and served many years as a teacher. When he passed away, he was working at Tshikuwi Primary School.

As a politician, Ramantswana served as the first chairperson of the Tshikuwi branch of the African National Congress, where he was also nominated as the secretary of the Nzhelele ANC sub-region. He also served as the first secretary of the Tshikuwi Sanco. Ramantswana was a secretary of the Tribal Kraal (Khoro ya Tshikuwi) and coordinator of the Community Policing Forum, where he interacted with traditional leaders and organized cultural activities like indigenous sports (zwi gombela na Mifuvha).

Projects accomplished under his leadership were the initiation of community funeral condolences and the construction of a health centre in Tshikuwi.

During the 1994 elections, he facilitated an election campaign where a voting station at Waterpoort farms was established, together with mobile Home Affairs units, so as to ensure that even farm workers also voted for the first time in their lives.

He also headed the socio-economic survey at Tshikuwi, Luvhalani, and Paradise Maname, which resulted in the installation of electricity, water and social grants to elderly and disabled people. He also served on the branch executive committee of the Zwavhumbwa ANC Branch

Edelani zwavhudi Munyai muvhirwa wa ha Ramantswana, said a family member of the Ramantwsana´s family.

He will be laid to rest at the Tshikuwi cemetery tomorrow (Saturday).
