A dead baby on the dumping site! That was the horror discovery by a community member who was searching for discarded plastic bags on the dumping site in Thohoyandou.

The two-day-old little girl was neatly clothed and a plastic bag placed underneath a discarded cardboard box. The gruesome and unforgettable discovery took place on Saturday morning.

The shocked community member immediately informed the police who rushed to the scene with undertakers. It is still not known who dumped the baby and the reason why the precious, innocent little life was wasted in this manner.

Curios community members, some of them with tears running down their faces, looked on painfully as undertakers took the little baby to the mortuary. "Why on earth could it happen like this? How can a normal parent dump such a wonderful gift from God in this way? Some people do not even conceive and they need children. This is unacceptable," said one of the shocked community members at the scene.

Regional police spokesperson Captain Mashudu Malelo confirmed the incident. "We received a report and rushed to the scene, only to be greeted by the shocking discovery."

Malelo said the body of the little girl is kept in the mortuary while police are continuing with investigations. He called upon community members who might know something about the incident to contact the nearest police station. "We will surely make an arrest in due course," said Malelo.
