A 20-year-old woman who resides at Ngove village briefly appeared in the Giyani magistrates’ court last Friday on a charge of murder. The case is related to an incident that took place at Ngove village last Tuesday night at about 23:00.
According to the police statement, the deceased, Aaron Noza Makhubele (25) of Ngove village, proceeded to the suspect’s home during the night of the incident. The deceased was the suspect’s former boyfriend. On arrival at the suspect’s home, the deceased allegedly threatened her with death and later grabbed her and pulled her out of the house.
The statement further indicates that the suspect screamed for help but nobody came to her rescue. While pulling her, the two fell down together and the deceased allegedly attempted to rape the suspect. The statement indicates that deceased produced a knife and stabbed the suspect, wounding her in the lower leg.
According to the statement, the suspect later overpowered the deceased and dispossessed him off his knife. The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased in the chest with the very same knife. The deceased fell down and died on the spot.
She appeared in court last Friday and her case was provisionally withdrawn on the basis that she was acting in self-defense. The case docket was, however, referred to the Director of Public Prosecution for decision. The suspect will be prosecuted if the Director of Public Prosecution so decides.
